Where UMF Cluj-Napoca international applicants come from ?
Who are the UMF Cluj international students? If you are thinking about studying medicine or dentistry in English at UMF Cluj-Napoca, you may wonder who else is applying. I can’t give you the university’s official figures.
What I can show you is what I see in my own practice: the countries of the applicants to the English-language programmes who took the psychological test with me, in 2026 and since 2022.
Applicants to UMF Cluj-Napoca by country since 2022
Since 2022, applicants from 32 different countries have taken the test with me. Germany comes first by a wide margin (33.5%), followed by Canada and France (10.8% each), Italy (7.6%) and the United States (6.5%). The United Kingdom (3.8%) and Israel (3.2%) come next.
Europe: about seven applicants in ten
About 70% of the applicants come from Europe, mostly from Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Denmark. Many of them are looking for a place in a medical school outside their country, where the competition for places is high.
North America and the Middle East
Canada and the United States together represent about 17% of the applicants. Applicants from the Middle East (Israel, Qatar, Bahrain, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates) represent about 6.5%.
UMF Cluj-Napoca applicants in 2026
In 2026, applicants from 23 countries have taken the test so far. Germany is still first (27.3%), but Canada rises to 18.2%, ahead of France (7.6%) and Israel (6.1%). Europe represents about 59% of the applicants this year, and North America about 21%.

How to read these figures
This map is based on my own records, not on official data from the university. It represents the applicants to English-language programmes at UMF Cluj-Napoca who took the psychological test with me to complete their application file. It counts tests, not admissions: it doesn’t tell you how many students from each country actually study in Cluj. The numbers are small, so a handful of applicants can move a percentage by several points from one year to the next. Percentages are rounded to one decimal, which is why the totals can be slightly below 100%.
What this means for your UMF Cluj-Napoca application
Will I find other applicants from my country?
If your country appears on the map, you are not the only one applying from there. If it doesn’t, that says nothing about your chances: the map only shows the applicants who took the test with me.
The psychological certificate for UMF Cluj-Napoca
